Gamadia Girls High School Holds Fund Raiser

An exuberant musical and proficiency-acknowledging fund-raiser event was organized by the Bai MN. Gamadia Girls High School at the Marathi Sahitya Sangh, Charni Road, on 11th November 2017. Dynamic Principal Zarin Behram Rabadi and her faculty of efficient teachers got together to reward hard working students who excelled in various subjects and other pursuits encouraged at the School, followed by an extraordinary musical evening by the school’s Indian music teacher, Viraf Daruwalla and his team.

The event commenced with teacher Priyanka Amre’s welcome address, introducing the Chief Guests, Shweta and Kanhaiyalal Padaria, parents of the school’s SSC topper, Jinesh Padaria. Attended by Trustee and Hon. Treasurer, Kersi Commisariat and wife, Zarine; President of the Parsee Girls’ School Association Minoo Billimoria and members of the Managing Board Dr. Pearl Pastakia, Zubin Billimoria, Rustom Vakil and Aspy Engineer, the event witnessed forty-two current students and twenty-five SSC pass-outs awarded for excellence in academics, extra-curricular activities and holistic pursuits.

Minoo Billimoria also felicitated young ballerinas, especially Hanushi Barot, Ruby Kermani and Delnavaz Parva, for excellence in ballet, while Ruby Kermani was also awarded the ‘Kukadaru Cup’ for excellence in Avesta prayers throughout. Then, Viraf Daruwalla, compere and singer Ruzbeh Patel, singer Rachna Vartak, along with Viraf’s wife Jasmine, who amalgamated the music tracks and the adept sound engineer, Dayanand, created crescendos of joy by first playing compositions composed by Viraf and then in perfectly tuned tenors, rendering soulful, lively and spirited Hindi songs, resulting in two and a half hours of ecstatic whistles, applause and humming. A spirited and joyful fund raising event indeed!
