Vidarbha Clinch Maiden Ranji Trophy

A magnificent team effort by Vidharbha helped clinch their first Ranji Trophy title at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, winning by nine wickets. Veteran player, Wasim Jaffer hit the winning boundary ringing in the win. Batting first, Delhi notched up 296 in 102.5 overs as Dhruv Shorey top scored with 145 in 294 deliveries. For Vidarbha, Rajneesh Gurbani was the pick of the bowlers snapping 6-59 in 24.4 overs. In reply, the opponents chased the target comfortably, with first innings at 547 in 163.4 overs, as Akshay Wadkar scored a brilliant 133. During the second innings, Delhi were bundled out for 280 in 76 overs as Gurbani struck with 2-92. Vidarbha chased 32, losing one wicket and finishing the match on Day four. Rajneesh Gurbani was awarded Man of the Match.

Next day Crystal Palace won 2-1 V/s Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur defeated Swansea City 2-0; while West Ham United outplayed West Bromwich Albion 2-1. Finally Manchester City beat Watford 3-1. 3rd January saw Arsenal and Chelsea in a 2-2 draw.

Yuki Bhambri Crashes Out In Tata Open M’tra

India’s promising player Yuki Bhambri lost to opponent Pierre-Huges Herbert of France, in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 4-6 in the second round of the Tata Open Maharashtra Tournament.
