Fitness Tip Of The Week By K11 Academy of Fitness Sciences

Motivation: Recommended Daily

How nice it would be if we were consistently attracted to exercise like iron filings to a magnet! Most of us begin a fitness program with enthusiasm and energy. But when the interest is not deep-rooted we go from fizz to flat, dropping out within a few months. An ‘outside-in’ approach is helpful where our interest is driven by techniques, where creating and sustaining motivation is a deliberate activity.

Choose a technique that keeps you engaged and stimulated.

Set goals that are achievable in the short term – eg: In this week, I will increase the number of times I do squats and/or push my effort level from 6 to 7.

Visual reminder is a great way of sustaining motivation; post your goals on your refrigerator or work desk where they are in view for you to see every day.

In our cyber driven world, we are often ‘alone together’ on our digital devices. Keep discussing your workouts with a person you admire or look up to. These face-to-face interactions promotes bonding through release of hormones.

Monitor your progress through an exercise diary and electronic trackers/apps.  Nothing tastes as sweet as success!

It is perfectly alright for motivation to dip occasionally. It is not so important where you are today as much as where you wish to be tomorrow.
