Summer Of Anticipation

Dear Readers,

It’s going to be a summer of anticipation for our community – locally and globally. On a local level, there’s a sense of eagerness and expectancy, as the community readies itself to witness new election campaigns battling it out over the coveted BPP Trustee seat which becomes available in July, marking the end of Trustee Munchi Cama’s tenure. As always, innumerable speculations have been rife as regards who will be vying for the coveted seat this time.

Putting to rest those “will she, wont she” rumours, Anahita Desai has stepped up as the first to confirm her candidature. And, yet again, social media platforms went abuzz with various speculations, concerns and questions. Addressing and answering all of these, in her usual candid manner, Anahita Desai spoke with Parsi Times in an exclusive interview that we are glad to bring our readers, providing you with a head-start, in our attempt to help you KYC – ‘Know Your Candidate’ better! (Pg. 10)

On a global level, it’s an entirely apolitical and vibrant summer of anticipation, with a dynamic group of our Zoroastrian youth from across the world, having recently participated in the first ever ‘World Zoroastrian Young Leaders Forum’ that was held last month at the ASHA Center in the UK, thanks to the initiative and the generosity of our Community’s leading global visionary – Zerbanoo Gifford. The aim was to provide a common umbrella for the youth to unite under, collectively comprehend and address issues our community is afflicted with, and work towards empowering active leaderships to resolve these concerns.

A brilliant initiative at a time when one of the main quandaries of our Community, nationally and globally, is the safeguarding and sustenance of our magnificent Zoroastrian legacy. The obvious solution lies in the hands of our future decision-makers, our youth, and these are the very hands and the minds that the Forum aims to strengthen and fortify. We cheer such efforts, and keenly await the fruits of such laudable labour! Parsi Times is privileged to partner and enhance these noble efforts by sharing the details of this forum with you. Here’s wishing you a lovely weekend!
