After a massive tussle between the top four teams France, Belgium, England and Croatia in the race to the Finals, the stage is now all set for the big day where France will play Croatia for the trophy!

France Beat Belgium To Enter Finals!

France beat Belgium to win their encounter 1-0, courtesy brilliant effort by Samuel Umtiti who scored the winning header-goal during the 51st minute. Both teams displayed great attacking technique. The French held onto their initial lead, not allowing their opposition to sneak in to score. Belgium’s has one game to go i.e. the third place play-off against England. France last won the World Cup, twenty years ago for the first and only time ever, in Paris with a 3-0 win over Brazil.

Croatia Beat England To Grab A Place In The Final

Team England’s fans were disappointed with England losing 2-1 to the dark-horse, Croatia, who have now sealed their maiden entry into the Finale. England’s Kieran Trippier scored the first goal for England making the most of a free kick – thus joining Bobby Charlton and Gary Lineker as English semi-final scorers. A sensational strike put England on the top with a 1-0 edge. Croatia stunned England during the second half as Ivan Perisic scored during the 68th minute, serving as the equaliser. Mario Mandzukic scored the winning goal for Croatia in the 109th minute. England were unable to make good of a final opportunity with 30 seconds left of extra time with a free kick.

Cristiano Ronaldo Moves To Juventus

Real Madrid recently announced the transfer of their star player, Ronaldo to Italy’s Juventus. The Spanish media reports have said that the transfer could reach 105 million euros (USD 120 million).

India Dominate England To Win First ODI

An outstanding bowling display by Kuldeep Yadav (6-25) coupled with Rohit Sharma’s unbeaten 137 with 15 boundaries and four sixes, helped India clinch the first ODI V/s England at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, by a margin of eight wickets. Kuldeep made history as the first left arm spinner to claim six wickets in ODIs. Batting first, England scored 268 in 49.5 overs as Ben Stokes made 50 with Jos Buttler at 53. For India, besides Kuldeep, Umesh Yadav picked (2-70) while Yuzvendra Chahal picked (1-51). In reply, India cruised to victory in style as Rohit’s 137 not out is now the highest score by an Indian batsman V/s England in England in the ODIs. Skipper Virat Kohli scored 75 while Shikhar Dhawan made 40. Kuldeep was awarded Man of the Match.

Federer Knocked Out Of Wimbledon

Swiss tennis star and defending champion Roger Federer suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of eighth-seeded Kevin Anderson of South Africa, losing 2-6, 6-7, 7-5, 6-4, 13-11 in the quarter-final match that lasted four hours and 13 minutes. This was the World No 2’s first ever loss to the South African.

Serena Williams In Wimbledon Finale

Serena Williams yet again displayed her prowess beating Julia Goerges 6-2, 6-4, to reach her 10th singles final of the competition.

Hima Das Creates History

18-year-old Hima Das created history as she became the first Indian track athlete to win a gold medal at the IAAF World Under-20 Athletics Championships, clocking 51.46s in the women’s 400m final.
