At ZTFI, It’s ‘Community First’

Known for its consistent philanthropic activities to help those in need in our community, The Zoroastrian Trust Funds of India (ZTFI) held its ‘Feed-A-Family’ program on May 21, 2016, at Cama Baug (small otla), as it does every month. Basic but necessary provisions were distributed to the over 250 under-privileged Parsi/Irani individuals. Items given to the benefactors include food supplies like rice, pulses, sugar, tea, as well as items for daily use like washing powder, and also cash.

After ensuring that every benefactor was given the provisions, Team ZTFI called it a day, receiving heartfelt blessings and praises from them. Says Yasmin Mistry, who was pivotal in starting the ZTFI movement in 2009, “It’s always Community First at ZTFI! There’s a great sense of fulfillment in helping our community’s people in need. This year we tried to make it more comfortable and our benefactors have been very thankful for that. We try to raise funds from those who can afford to give funds, and use these to support those in need of it”.

In keeping with the convenience of the benefactors, who are increasing in number and have had to stand in queues to collect the provisions, the Trustees and committee of ZTFI decided upon shifting to a new location – Dadar – as it is more spacious and can accommodate the increasing number of benefactors each month. Also, the benefactors can now sit comfortably under fans as opposed to standing and sweating in queues – a boon especially for the senior citizens and the differently-abled. The benefit of this new location would prove doubly useful with the oncoming monsoons.

“ZTFI provides the opportunity to the members of our community to serve the underprivileged. It also offers a platform to be recognized as bright stars of our community,” said ZTFI Trustee, Zeree Jehangirji.
