Homi K. Bhabha Honoured With Humboldt Prize

Harvard literary scholar and cultural theorist, and Anne F. Rothenberg Professor of English and American Literature and Language, Homi K. Bhabha was recently awarded the Humboldt Research Prize for his contributions to the field of academics. The award is usually granted to a researcher in recognition of his life’s achievements to academics. Bhabha received this award in honour of his comprehensive work in the field of humanities. The honor recognizes his cutting-edge achievements.

Born to a Parsi family in Mumbai, Bhabha studied BA at Elphinstone College and went on to complete his MA, M. Phil. and D.Phil. degrees in English literature from Christ Church Oxford University.

Director of the Mahindra Humanities Center, Bhabha has earlier been awarded the Padma Bhushan and has received honorary degrees from Université Paris 8, University College London, and Free University Berlin. A member of the Steering Committee of the Aga Khan Architectural Prize, he graces the board for the UNESCO World Report on cultural diversity since 2007. He also chaired the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Human Rights and has authored numerous works on postcolonial theory, cultural change and power, cosmopolitanism, human rights, and various other crucial themes.
