FPZAI Gathering At Valsad

The Federation of Parsi Zorastrians Anjumans of India (FPZAI) held their meeting on 24th July, 2016 at Bejan Baug, Valsad (Bulsar). Commencing at 10.15 am with a Humbandagi by Vada Dasturji Khurshed Dastoor at the Anjuman Hall, the meeting was attended by over 75 community members, including Trustees of 23 different Anjumans. President of FPZAI, Sam Chothia mentioned details of the last A.G.M. meeting held in Surat in 2015, and suggested that scholarships be given by BPP to students residing out of Bombay.
Vada Dasturji Khurshed Dastoor provided information on the ‘Bawal Firewood Project’ initiated by Vyara Anjuman that has Bawal trees grown around the spaces surrounding the Dokhma there. He stated that after few years this wood can be utilized for local use and the surplus can be sold. He further said that Vulture Culture still exists and a local NGO encourages vulture growth and supports its maintenance. Next Khojeste Mistree (ex-Trustee of BPP) informed how Dokhmas are built with various religious items, rituals and prayers.
The meeting also witnessed discussions of remuneration and benefits being offered to Mobeds, followed by a round of healthy discussions and suggestions by the various Trustees. Chief Guest, BPP Chairman, Yazdi Desai, applauded and supported the Vyara project and highlighted major aspects concerning our community.
Floral tributes were offered to all the dignitaries present, including BPP chairman Yazdi Desai’s wife, Anahita Desai.
