UNESCO Award for Cama Building

The prestigious ‘UNESCO Asia Pacific Award of Merit’ (for restoration) was awarded to Cama Building, a residential building situated in Marzban Colony at Mumbai Central on the 1st of September, 2016. This is the third UNESCO award for the Garib Zarthostiona Rehthan Fund (GZRF), which had previously teamed up for the restoration of Sethna Building and Wadia Building. Restoration of old buildings, instead of resorting to the redevelopment-spree that has gripped the city, is a welcome and refreshing change. More importantly, structural and architectural restoration is a comparatively cheaper option than redevelopment.
