These Boots Are Made For… Giving!

Our Community’s leading organization for children, XYZ (Xtremely Young Zoroastrians) is kick-starting yet another MAD (Making A Difference) initiative titled ‘XYZ Stepping Forward’ – a Shoe Collection Drive on Sunday, 2nd October, 2016. Parsi Times is excited to media-partner with XYZ in this noble venture which aims to provide footwear to all those unable to afford it.

The vibrant and spirited Xtremely Young Zoroastrians, along with friends, family and well-wishers, will visit 21 different colonies and baugs across Mumbai on Sunday, 2nd October, between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm to collect all types of footwear, i.e. shoes, slippers, sandals etc. which are in wearable condition. These shoes will be sorted and sent to NGOs including Hamara Footath, Greensole, Angel Xpress Foundation and Oscar Foundation to be distributed to people in need and help improve their lives. If you do not have shoes to donate, XYZ will accept donations of Rs. 200 for a new pair of shoes for the needy.

Says Hoshaang Gotla, the debonair and committed founder of XYZ, “We are overjoyed to have so many baugs, colonies, gymkhanas and associations coming together to help with this cause and we also appreciate the support of the Scout Groups and other organisations. We especially thank the PARSI TIMES for spreading the message to all their readers over the last month. We hope that the children of our small community bind us together and work as one to make a huge difference to the people in need.”

Those who wish to participate in this noble cause can do so in any / all of the 3 following ways:

1. DONATE: As many pairs of shoes as you can. Kindly tie each pair of shoes with a rubber-band or string and hand it over to the kids or drop it off at the collection centers (mentioned on Pg. 1). A donation in cash or cheque can also be made for new shoes.

2. VOLUNTEER: We look forward to your participation, so please take the conscious decision to come down to your colony grounds and help out with the collection process, which would maximum span an hour or two.

3. SUPPORT: A heartfelt request to support our cause – please forward this message to others in our community and ‘Make A Difference’.

“This may be an XYZ Initiative but we hope that every Zoroastrian comes together and makes a change, as each one of us is an Xtremely Young Zoroastrian within! This is not just about your social or civic responsibility – this is about Being the Better Parsi that you set out to be!” adds Hoshaang.
