WE Hosts Entrepreneurial Session

The Women Entrepreneurs (WE) wing of World Zarathusti Chamber of Commerce (WZCC) hosted a session on ‘The Joys and Pangs of Running Your Own Business’ on 1 October, 2016. Attended by 40 members and guests, Homai H Mehta, Chairperson, WE, welcomed the gathering and explained that ‘WE’ did not just stand for Women Entrepreneurs but also for Women Empowerment. This was followed by a speech by Behroze Daruwala, Chairperson of Women Entrepreneurs’ Wing – International Board.
Edul Daver outlined WZCC’s vision for the next two years and felt that women gamble less and gauge risks better. He said, “Entrepreneurship is pursuit of opportunities beyond resources in our control.”

pg_08Homai Mehta introduced the first speaker of the event, Nazneen Katrak, MD and Founder of Mustang Socks, which manufactures more than a million pairs of socks monthly and has thirty-six distributors pan-India. Fifty percent of the workforce comprising women, Mustang has tie-ups with some of the largest International Brands, retailers and E-retailers including Amazon and FirstCry.
Dolly Dhamodiwalla, immediate Past Chairperson and Committee member, WE, introduced the second speaker, Nainaz Shroff, pioneer of wines to be enjoyed with hot and spicy Indian foods. Shroff has been awarded for the innovation of these wines which are termed as ‘Taylor and Shroff Wines – Best Served Poured on Ice’. It was interesting to hear how she converted a college project into a full-fledged wine-making business. After their address, the two speakers interacted with the audience in a question and answer round and concluded with a vote of thanks by Percis Dubash, Secretary, WE.
