Gaylord Mumbai Celebrates 60th Anniversary

Mumbai’s landmark restaurant, Gaylord situated at Churchgate will mark its 60th anniversary on 16th November, 2016. The iconic restaurant has stood the test of time and continues to attract Mumbaikars to feast at its outlets (bakery, restaurant and bar).  One of the city’s oldest fine-dining restaurants, Gaylord has earned the loyalty of its patrons as it achieves this significant milestone.

Celebrating its anniversary, Gaylord will host an exclusive party on 14th November, co-hosted by Fratelli Wines, to create a special ‘Gaylord 60th Anniversary Wine Label’. The eatery is offering several offers and surprises to its loyal clientele, which includes a 60% discount on 16th November, 2016. Gaylord will also be offering a special nostalgic menu, bringing back some of its most popular earlier dishes including Crispy Mutton Samosas, Tava Kheema Kalegi and Vegetable Parisienne.

Noel DSouza, Gaylord’s General Manager for the last three decades, says, “In an industry where the attrition rate is so high, we have employees working here for more than 30 years! We take care of our staff and look after our patrons warmly. With the completion of 60 years and the increase in competition, we cannot afford to be complacent and will continue to change with times. We are constantly upgrading and experimenting with everything from food to decor.”

“The continental dishes that were favourite then, like the Chicken Montreal, Lobster Thermidor, Grilled Lamb Chops and Salmon Steak, are still in demand now. Most of our customers come in knowing what to eat”, smiles Malhotra, the 80+ CEO who comes to work each day and greets all his guests!

Dhruv Lamba, Executive Director who represents the third generation of owners managing the restaurant says, “On the completion of 60 years, we love the fact that we retain our regular patrons, but it is a pleasure to see college students come in to the bakery or a group of young professionals come over for lunch. I want to integrate my dad’s and grandfather’s experience with some bold changes to usher in a clientele like me. I want to retain Gaylord’s heritage but also make it more appealing to the younger generation.”
