The annual 16th All Parsees Floodlit Throw-ball Tournaments for Women and Volleyball Tournaments (Direct as well as Indirect) for Men were organized by Sir Cowasjee Jehangir Colony Recreation Centre’s Sports and Welfare Community, from 29th December, 2016 to 8th January, 2017. 46 teams comprising approximate 300 participants from Salsette Colony, Marzban Colony, Rustom Baug, A H Wadia Baug, Godrej Baug, DPCSWA, Gamadia Hostel, Shapoor Baug, Malcolm Baug, Gamadia Colony, Navroze Baug, Dhunbai Wadi, Kashinath Colony, Panthaky Baug and host, Sir C J Colony were represented by their competitive teams in this annual Community Sports Event. Every evening, from 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm CJ came alive with its up-to-date floodlit infrastructure and well-groomed ground conditions, with crowds applauding and cheering their respective teams.

Also, all committee members, volunteers, side referees, linesmen, scorers, tiny tots and colony security for overall smooth functioning.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS!

The three finals were contested on January 8th, 2017. Chief Guest Maharukh Daruwalla, Principal, Sir Cowasjee Jehangir High School graced the occasion with her husband, Ratan and BPP Trustee Viraf Mehta was the Guest of Honor. They jointly awarded the winners and runners-up the trophies and cash prizes. The results were:

(I) All-Parsees Floodlit Throwball Tournament (Women):

The rotating cup in memory of late Perviz T Panthaky for the Winning Team was won by Malcolm Baug led by Vahishta Bharucha, with a cash prize of Rs. 7500/-.
The rotating cup in memory of late Minoo N Daruwalla for the Runners-up Team was won by Salsette Colony, captained by Natasha Sethna, with a cash prize of Rs. 5000/-.
The rotating trophy in memory of late Villoo Adi Mohta for the Best Player of the Tournament was won by Arnaz Lakdawalla from Malcolm Baug, with a cash prize of Rs. 2000/-.
The rotating trophy in memory of late Beji Agha for the Best Promising Player was won by Rushnaz Khusrovshahi from Salsette, with a cash prize of
Rs1000/-.

(II) All-Parsees Floodlit Volleyball Direct Tournament (Men):

The rotating shield in memory of late Coomi Dara Karbhari for the Winning Team was won by Sir C J Colony Recreation Centre ‘A’, captained by Zubin Shroff, with a cash prize of Rs. 7500/-.
The rotating shield in memory of late Adi Mohta for the Runners-up Team was won by Marzban Colony ‘A’  led by Shazad Ichhaporia, with a cash prize of
Rs. 5000/-.
The rotating trophy in memory of late Dhanjisha Rustomji Bhagwagar for the Best Player of the Tournament was won by Adil Mithaiwalla from CJ ‘A’ with a cash prize of Rs. 2000/-.
The rotating shield in loving memory of late Dolly and Behramshaw Elavia for the Best Promising Player of the Tournament was won by Shazad Ichhaporia, from Marzban Colony ‘A’, with a cash prize of Rs.1000/-.

(III) All-Parsees Floodlit Volleyball Indirect Tournament (Men):

The rotating trophy in loving memory of late Kersi Dalal for the Winning Team was won by Navroze Baug ‘A’, led by Pashin Sangha, with a cash prize of Rs. 7500/-.
The rotating cup in memory of late Framji Hormusji Settna for the Runners-up Team was won by Rustom Baug led by Behram Kotwal, with a cash prize of Rs 5000/-.
The rotating trophy in memory of late Roshan F. Elavia for the Best Player of the Tournament was won by Rustom Tampal, from Navroze Baug ‘A’, with a cash prize of Rs. 2000/-.
The rotating trophy in memory of late Meherzad K. Dalal for the Best Promising Player was won by Meherzad Rohinton Bugwadia, from Rustom Baug, with a cash prize of Rs. 1000/-.
