FEZANA Awards Er. Dr. Bagli Lifetime Achievement Award

FEZANA (Federation of Zoroastrian Associations of North America) has conferred its highest honor, the Lifetime Achievement Award, on Ervad Dr. Jehan Bagli, a well-respected North American Zoroastrian scientific scholar, whose professional excellence, personal achievements and meritorious community service has done our community proud globally. The award will be presented to 89-year-old Er. Dr. Bagli on 29th April, 2017, marking FEZANA’s 30th Anniversary and ZAH Legacy Scholarship 10th Anniversary Gala, in Houston, Texas.

Er. Dr. Jehan Bagli obtained a Doctorate in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of London, and was the director of research at the Wyeth-Ayerst Research Laboratories in Princeton, New Jersey until his retirement. He has to his credit over 60 publications and 49 US patents! He became an ordained Zoroastrian priest at age 14, and established the first Zoroastrian publication in North America ‘Gavashni’ in 1974. An accomplished Zoroastrian scholar and researcher, he has authored and co-authored several books on religious practices and is invited globally to speak on religion in various conventions on eclectic topics related to Zoroastrianism. He has also worked on unification of the Zarathushti Calendar.

He has been the Founding President of the Zoroastrian Association of Quebec (ZAQ) in 1968, ex-Editor of the FEZANA journal for two years, and the Chair of the FEZANA Research and Preservation committee since 2000.  Since 2001, Dr. Bagli has been the Chair of the ZSO lecture committee and represents ZSO at the Ontario Multifaith Council. In 2017, Dr. Bagli will retire from FEZANA at age 90.  FEZANA honours and celebrates his life, achievements, contributions and devotion to the Zoroastrian faith by awarding him the Lifetime Achievement Award.
