Mumbai In Ranji Trophy Finals: Mumbai gained a thumping victory by 6 wickets against Tamil Nadu in the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy and sailed into this year’s finals to regain the title of champions. Opting to bat, Tamil Nadu amassed 305 in 115.2 overs during their first innings with half centuries from Kaushik Gandhi, Baba Indrajith and Vijay Shankar. Amongst the Mumbai bowlers, medium pacers Shardul Thakur grabbed 4-75 while Abhishek Nayar picked 4-66. Mumbai started well with Praful Waghela scoring 48 and Surya Kumar Yadav scoring 73 but were reduced to 190-5 in 63.1 overs but the partnership between skipper Aditya Tare (83) and Abhishek Nayar (58) saved them. Towards the end, contributions from Balwinder Singh Sandhu (Jr.) (32) and Shardul Thakur (52) helped Mumbai take a 101 runs lead. During their second innings Tamil Nadu declared at 356-6 as Abhinav Mukund and Baba Indrajith posted centuries. For team Mumbai, debutant Prithvi Shaw played exceptionally well scoring a century and was awarded Man of the Match.

Premier League Results: On 1st January, 2017 Tottenham Hotspur won 4-1 against Watford while Arsenal beat Crystal Palace 2-0. Next day, Everton outplayed Southampton 3-0, Manchester City won 2-1 playing against Burnley while West Bromwich Albion outplayed rivals Hull City 3-1 and Manchester United defeated West Ham United 2-0. 3rd January saw Swansea City win 2-1 V/s Crystal Palace and Stoke City beat counterparts Watford 2-0. The following day Tottenham Hotspur defeated Chelsea 2-0.

Yuki Bhambri Shines At Chennai Open: Indian Tennis Star Yuki Bhambri outplayed Ramkumar Ramanathan 6-1, 6-1 while Saketh Myneni was defeated by Mikhail Youzhny 4-6, 3-6 in the round of 32 matches at the Chennai Open.

PV Sindhu Helps Chennai Smashers Win In PBL 2017: Star shuttler PV Sindhu led from the front and helped her team Chennai Smashers beat Bengaluru Blasters 5-0 in the first match of the Premier Badminton League 2017. Previously Chennai’s Parupalli Kashyap defeated Bengaluru’s Sourabh Verma 11-8, 11-5.
