Budding Sports Prodigy – Parzan Nariman

11-year-old, Parzan Nariman, a class VI student of Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School, Mumbai, continues to excel on the athletics circuit at the city, district and state levels over the past six years, with a medals count totaling over a hundred, including sixty gold medals, under the guidance of his coach Dayanand Shetty.

Parzan won three golds and one bronze medal at the Mini Olympics (Inter-School) meet, and four gold medals and one bronze medal at the All Parsees Annual Athletic Meet 2017, also earning the Individual Championship at both these meets. At the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA), Mumbai Inter-School Athletics Championship in December, 2016, Parzan won two gold and two silver medals, and signed off 2016 with a haul of two gold and one silver medals at the Maharashtra State Sub-Junior Athletics Championship in Pune on New Year’s Eve. In 2016, Parzan won twelve gold medals and one bronze medal at the XYZ Athletics Meet, Catholic Gymkhana Annual Athletic Meet and All Parsees Annual Athletic Meet; six gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal at the DPCG Annual Athletic Meet; four gold medals at the Maharashtra Region Inter-ICSE Schools Meet (AISM); six gold and four silver medals at the Five Districts Open Track And Field Championship, Poinsur Gymkhana Meet and Prabodhan Kridamahotsav, where he also won the individual age-group championship at all the above eight meets and was declared the ‘Best Boy Athlete’. Parzan has achieved a whopping nine meet records during the past year.

Earlier Parzan had also cleared the prestigious Dr. Homi Bhabha Science Examination, and was awarded ‘Best All-Rounder Boy’ in the MCET Primary School as well as ‘Zochild Rising Star Award’ for Athletics at the Zochild Day. In the future, Parzan wishes to participate at the national level and live out his dream of representing India in the international circuit!
