Philanthropic March For LCEB

The Lions Club of East Bombay (LCEB) executed two need-based projects aggregating over Rupees One Lakh, over the month of March.

On 14th March, 2017, seven Club members donated colourful desks, tables and chairs to the KPB Nursery School at Umtolpada, Gholvad, District Dahanu. The club also erected an attractive slide in the School Compound. Conceived and executed by Lion Behroze Daruwalla, the club has also set aside Rupees Two Lakhs as corpus, the interest from which, will be utilized to provide free education to children passing out of the nursery and proceeding for higher studies. Attended by President Aspi Darukhanawala, Director of the School Mahakhurshid Byramji and Principal, Hutoxi Hodiwalla, the Club has now decided to make this its permanent project and will be contributing toward it every year.

On 27th March 2017, twenty-seven Lion members got together and donated thirty-six plastic chairs and carrom boards to the ‘Special Children of the Maharashtra State Women’s Council’s – SAVERA’ on the occasion of their Annual Day. Conceived and executed by Club Secretary, Lion Shernaz Byramji-Lakdawalla, who also donated Rs 10,000/- towards the yearly education of one student, philanthropist, Kerafrid Damania donated a white board and distributed attractive stationery boxes to all fifty-two students, while President, Aspi Darukhanawala presided over the project. The club also honoured Chief Guest, Centennial District Governor, Armaity Aspi Cooper for her outstanding services.

The Club will execute it’s last Centennial Legacy Project in the month of May, of setting up a Counselling Room at Bal Asha’, a Home for Destitute Children at King George Victoria Memorial, costing over Rs. Three Lakhs.
