This Navroze, try these brand new cocktails, originally crafted by Arashasp Shroff, a 24-year-old culinary prodigy, raising everyone’s spirits high at George Brown College in Toronto, as he breezes through his Post Graduation in the ‘Advanced Wine, Beverage and Business Management Degree’ Program. Arashasp has especially created four fabulous original cocktails for Parsi Times readers, with his own relevant ‘mood’ descriptions and ‘pairings’ for each of these! So if you wish to try something navu on Navroze, try out these original cocktails by Arashasp – with these by your side, you’re definitely ‘pegged’ for success!!

About Arashasp Shroff:

A graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Culinary Arts Business Management, from the globally renowned Culinary Institute of America (NY, USA), Arashasp’s genius got him handpicked to attend the exclusive concentration program in Advanced Wine and Hospitality in Napa Valley, California. Soon he was recruited for JW Marriott’s Leadership Program and shared his expertise here for a year before being invited to join the prestigious pre-opening launch team for Spago, a fine dining restaurant by Wolfgang Puck, in Singapore, where the scope of his role grew rapidly and he eventually oversaw the storage and inventory of all wine, creating a beverage training manual and calendar and even mentored a team of his own colleagues!

Currently a consultant for Pearson Higher Education, he also works as a Food and Beverage Supervisor at the Sheraton Center Hotel in Toronto. His professional achievements include receiving the rarely accomplished ‘Wine Spirits Educational Trust Level 3 Certification’; the ‘Prudhomme Level 2 Beer Specialist Certification; the ‘Court of Master Sommelier Certifications; and very shortly, the ‘Wine Spirits Educational Trust Level 4 Certification’.

Girl On The Island’

The Mood:

Ocean water spraying through the hair, hint of a smile, sand on the feet… They buy you a drink from across the bar… seems interesting and it’s your last night out on vacation…

Ingredients:

5oz. The Botanist Gin; 5oz. Blue Curacao; 25oz. Crème de Banana; 5oz. Egg whites; 25oz. Lime juice; 5 Sprigs of Mint; 5oz. Simple Syrup

Method:

Tear the sprigs of mint and place in shaker. Dry shake eggs-whites only for 1 minute. Add liquid contents and shake for 1 minute, add ice and shake. Strain over glass and garnish with Mint

Expert Pairing Tip:

This is a Pre-Dinner cocktail and pairs well with spicy food.

Handcuffs and Whips’

The Mood:

The stranger at the end of the bar, probably has this back at home. It’ll be the best night of your life… try something new…

Ingredients:

5oz. Beefeater Gin; 5oz. Campari; Orange Syrup; 25oz Lemon Juice.

Method:

Measure out all liquid content in shaker and add ice and shake. Pour over Martini glass and garnish with orange slice.

Expert Pairing Tip:

This is a Pre-Dinner cocktail and can also be had with Dinner. It pairs well with heavier appetizers.

 

‘The Stranger at the End of the Bar’

The Mood:

She’s silent and perfumed, with rose lipstick and black hair. She looks like the girl on the island… she looks over and smiles every few minutes… silently flirting…

Ingredients:

Gin; Lillet; 5 wheels of Jalapeno; 25oz. Lime; 25oz. simple syrup; 3 Sprigs Coriander

Method:

Muddle jalapeno and coriander in shaker and add liquid contents and shake well. Add ice and shake and pour over fine strainer into martini glass.

This is a Pre or Post-Dinner cocktail only and pairs well with light or health-foods.

 

‘Can I See You Again?’

The Mood:

She mentioned she loves ginger beer… which is your favourite too! You both have so much in common… go on… ask her out on a date…

Ingredients:

5oz. Grey Goose; 5oz. Ginger; Jamaican Ginger Beer; 1 tsp. Cayenne; 25oz. Lime Juice.

Method:

Muddle ginger and cayenne in shaker, add liquid ingredients and shake with ice. Pour into martini glass and top it up with ginger beer. Garnish with lime wheel.

This is a Pre-Dinner cocktail only and pairs well with snacks or fast foods.
