India Win 1st Test Match Against Sri Lanka: The all-round exceptional performance by Team India ensured a 304 runs victory against Sri Lanka in the first Test Match at Galle. Batting first, India notched up 600 in 133.1 overs. Shikhar Dhawan top scored with 190, supported on the other end by Cheteshwar Pujara with 153.  In reply, Sri Lanka were bundled out for 291 in 78.3 overs as Jadeja snapped up 3-67. During India’s 2nd innings Abhinav Mukund got out lbw on 81, while skipper Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane remained unbeaten on 103 and 23, respectively. India declared at 240-3. With the hosts managing only 245 during their 2nd innings, this was India’s biggest win away from home in terms of runs. Ashwin got a special award on playing his 50th Test Match. Shikhar Dhawan was Man of the Match.

India ‘A’ Beat Afghanistan ‘A’: Outstanding batting by Manish Pandey (86*), Rishabh Pant (60), with spectacular bowling performances from Mohammed Siraj, Siddharth Kaul and Vijay Shankar, ensured a 113 runs victory for India ‘A’ against Afghanistan ‘A’. Batting first India ‘A’ scored 322-5 in 50 overs. Along with Manish and Rishabh, Krunal Pandya scored 48, while Shreyas Iyer notched up 44. In reply, Afghanistan ‘A’ were bowled for 209-9. Player of the Match was Manish Pandey.

On 28th July, 2017, Telegu Titans beat Tamil Thalaivas 32-27, while Puneri Paltan defeated U Mumba 33-21. On the next day Dabang Delhi KC outplayed Jaipur Pink Panthers 30-26 and Patna Pirates won 35-29 against Telegu Titans. On 30th July, 2017, U Mumba won 29-28 playing V/s Haryana Steelers, while Bengaluru Bulls won 31-21 against Telugu Titans.

BADMINTON

Prannoy And Kashyap Enter Pre-Quarter-Finals: India’s ace shuttlers, HS Prannoy and Parupalli Kashyap continue good play, reaching the Pre-Quarter-Finals in the men’s singles of the New Zealand Grand Prix Gold in Auckland. Prannoy beat Indonesia’s Firman A Kholik 23-21, 21-18 while Kashyap defeated New Zealand’s Oscar Guo 21-9, 21-8.

UEFA – Super Cup, 2017: The Champions League winners – Real Madrid CF and Europa League winners – Manchester United FC meet at the Philip II Arena in Skopje, Macedonia, on 9th August, 2017, (12:15 am IST), to face off in the UEFA, Super Cup. This will be United’s final pre-season game before they begin their Premier League campaign at home, West Ham on 13th August, 2017. Madrid gets its LaLiga Challenge under way post the following weekend.
