Chief Justice Vazifdar App‘law’ded For Kind Gesture

The last week has had the whole community as well as the law fraternity take pride with renewed appreciation in the Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice, S J Vazifdar, who went on leave on purpose, to pave way for the High Court’s senior-most judge, Justice Surinder Singh Saron, to be appointed as Chief Justice, just days before his retirement. Justice Saron, scheduled to retire on September 4, 2017, would not have had the privilege to serve as the Chief Justice of the High Court towards the end of his tenure, had it not been for Chief Justice Vazifdar proceeding on leave, to facilitate the same. The move is being highly appreciated and applauded by members of the bar, also because it tends to recognize the service of Justice Saron throughout his career as a High Court Judge. Another great gesture by Vazifdar came into light during Independence Day Celebrations, when he stepped aside to offer Justice Saron the privilege to unfurl the Indian national flag at a ceremony.
