‘Living Legend Award’ For Mahtab Bamji By IUNS

The International Union of Nutritional Sciences (IUNS) recently elected scientist and fellow at the National Academy of Sciences, India, Mahtab Bamji to receive the ‘Living Legend Award’ at their General Assembly to be held in in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 18th October, 2017. The IUNS Council presents this award to highly experienced individuals who have contributed significantly towards the National Nutrition Society or regional organisation that aids advancement of nutrition at the national, regional and global level, through professional activities such as research, teaching and services.

82-year-old Bamji, former Director-grade scientist of the Hyderabad-based, National Institute of Nutrition, will be recognised for her efforts to help improve the nutrition and health status of poor farmers and villagers in Narsapuram on the outskirts of Hyderabad. So far, she has contributed to various national projects directed to reducing malnutrition and improving the nutrition status in our country.
