India Win T20 Against Sri Lanka: Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s magnificent 82 along with Manish Pandey’s unbeaten 51, ensured a 7 wicket victory for the men in blue against hosts Sri Lanka in Colombo. With this win, India becomes the first visiting team to whitewash a home-side 9-0 in a tour involving all three formats. Batting first, Sri Lanka made 170-7 in their 20 overs, courtesy a 53 by Dishan Munaweera and a 40-not-out by Ashan Priyanjan. India’s Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of the bowlers scalping 3-43 in his 4-over spell, while Kuldeep Yadav picked 2 wickets. In reply, India cruised to victory in style with four balls to spare. Unfortunately, Rohit Sharma was sent back with only 9 and KL Rahul managed 24, but thanks to Virat and Manish’s efforts, India sailed home comfortably, finishing at 174-3. Virat Kohli was awarded Man of the Match and Man of the Series.

World Cup Qualifiers: On 2nd September in Group D, Georgia drew 1-1 with Republic of Ireland, Serbia won 3-0 V/s Moldova while Wales beat Austria 1-0. In Group G, Albania defeated rivals Liechtenstein 2-0, FYR Macedonia outplayed opponents Israel 1-0 while Spain won 3-0 against Italy. In Group 1, Finland won 1-0 against Iceland and Ukraine beat Turkey 2-0. On 3rd September Sweden hammered Belarus with a 4-0 victory, Netherlands won 3-1 with Bulgaria. In Group B, Portugal defeated rivals Hungary 1-0 while Switzerland won 3-0 V/s Latvia. In Group H, Estonia defeated Cyprus 1-0, Bosnia- Herzegovina outplayed Gibraltar 4-0, Belgium won 2-1 against Greece and finally in Group 1, Croatia edged out Kosovo 1-0

Venus Williams Enters US Open Semis: 7 time Grand Slam champ, Venus Williams, beat opponent Petra Kvitova 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7/2) entering the semi-finals and becoming the oldest semi-finalist in US Open history

On 2nd September, Haryana Steelers beat Gujarat Fortunegiants 42-36; Bengal Warriors and UP Yoddha drew 26-26. Next day, Jaipur Pink Panthers beat rivals Gujarat Fortunegiants 31-25 and Bengal Warriors won 29-25 against Tamil Thalaivas. During the inter zone challenge week on 5th September, Patna Pirates won 47-21 playing V/s Jaipur Pink Panthers and Haryana Steelers beat Bengal Warriors 36-29. The following day, Dabang Delhi KC edged out Bengaluru Bulls 38-30 and U Mumbai won 37-31 against Bengal Warriors.
