Annual Day Celebrations By Zoroastrian Bharat Scouts And Guides

The 71st East Bombay Zoroastrian (EBZ) Guides and 16th EBZ Scouts commemorated their Annual Day on 8th October, 2017, at Albless Baug, commencing with a jasan ceremony. Each year, the Young Zoroastrian Society (combination of the scouts and guides) sponsors and performs the navjote ceremony of a Zoroastrian child from an economically weak family. This year too, a Zoroastrian child from Surat was ordained into our religion, thanks to the efforts of Zoroastrian Guides Group Leader, Maki Majra. The highlight of the evening was the prize distribution ceremony performed by Chief Guest and Principal of Bai Ava Bai Petit Girls’ High School, Diana Marfatia who awarded excellence in guiding/scouting, academics and professional fields. Dilkhush Zaroliwala was awarded for her excellent performance during one’s guiding career, while Khushnaaz Irani and Kaizaad Faroodi were awarded ‘Best Guide’ and ‘Best Scout’ of the year, respectively. Emphasising on the need for parents to allow their children to participate in guiding and scouting activities that help relieve them off the academic pressure, Scouter Freddy Khapoliwalla said, “A holistic development is not possible when the child is made to sit in a room and study all day. Scouting and guiding exposes children to skill development, service oriented and intellectual activities, which hone their teamwork and leadership qualities.” The gala evening concluded with dinner catered by Nariman Dalal.
