The NCPA presents the Artie’s Festival which will celebrate its 20th edition this month over two days – Tuesday, 21st November (Experimental Theatre) and Wednesday, 22nd November (Tata Theatre) at 7:00pm.
The Artie’s are a group of internationally-renowned musicians who come together based on their passion for chamber music and the will to share it in a friendly way. Individually, they criss-cross the globe and play in the most prestigious venues around the world, but, in 2014, they created the Artie’s Chamber Orchestra to dive into new repertoire, searching for a new sound and a new experience.
In 2015 the Artie’s Chamber Orchestra presented Bruckner’s awe-inspiring seventh symphony. This majestic symphony is one of Anton Bruckner’s best-known works. Though originally written for very large orchestral forces, the Artie’s Chamber Orchestra have created a niche for themselves in playing chamber reductions of large orchestral works, allowing them to play masterworks for the classical repertoire with limited forces, and bring these great works to a wider audience. The previous, completely sold-out performance of the Bruckner 7 was a memorable highlight in all the years of the Artie’s performances, and received a prolonged standing ovation with audience members rushing the stage to greet the artists at the end of the evening.
By popular demand, the NCPA will present this work once again on November 22 in the Tata Theatre, this time in a new arrangement for 14 musicians. As anyone who heard it the first time will attest, this is a concert not to be missed!
