India Wins Series 1-0, As 3rd Test Match Ends In Draw

A dominant overall performance saw the hosts yet again clinch a 1-0 series victory against the Lankan lions at Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi as the third game ended in a draw. Splendid batting performances from skipper Virat Kohli (243), Murali Vijay (155) and Rohit Sharma (65) helped India declare victory at 536-7 in 127.5 overs. For Sri Lanka, Lakshan Sandakan was the pick of the bowlers scalping 4-167 in 33.5 overs. In reply, the visitors managed 373 in 135.3 overs as Dinesh Chandimal made 164 while Angelo Mathews scored 111. For the Indians, Ishant Sharma and Ashwin snapped up three wickets each while Mohammed Shami and Jadeja picked two each. During their second innings, the Indians declared at 246-5 in 52.2 overs as Shikhar Dhawan, Kohli and Rohit Sharma all notched up half centuries. Further, day five belonged to the Lankans as they lost only two wickets and ended with 299-5, as three wickets had fallen earlier in the last session of play on day four. Virat Kohli was awarded the Man of the Match and the Man of the Series.

India Enter Semi-Finals Of Hockey World League Final

In a thrilling contest which went down to the wire, India defeated opponents Belgium in a nerve wrecking shootout and thus entered the semi-final of the Hockey World League Final.  Both teams were locked at 3-3 in regulation time after which the game went into the shootout. Goalkeeper of the men in blue, Akash Chikte produced a great performance under pressure to hand India their first win of the tournament. For India, Gurjant Singh, Harmanpreet Singh and Rupinderpal Singh netted goals. While for Belgium, Loick Luypaert and Amaury Keusters converted their opportunities.

 

FOOTBALL

Premier League Results

On 2nd December Chelsea beat Newcastle United 3-1, Liverpool thrashed Brighton and Hove Albion 5-1 while Everton won 2-0 playing against Huddersfield Town. Leicester City defeated Burnley 1-0 in a tight contest while Stoke City overpowered Swansea City, winning by a 2-1 margin. Watford and Tottenham Hotspur drew their encounter 1-1 and ultimately Manchester United won 3-1 V/s Arsenal. The following day AFC Bournemouth and Southampton drew 1-1 while Manchester City outplayed rivals West Ham United 2-1.
