First Edition witnessed a grand and glamorous evening at Palladium

Exhibits will be displayed till 1st May at Atrium Level, Palladium, Lower Parel

SodaBottleOpenerWala the much adored quintessential Bombay-Irani Café and Bar with all its idiosyncrasies in place brings forth the dying legacy of bustling, colourful, quirky, eccentric Irani cafes to the city. In keeping with the ethos of highlighting iconic elements of Bombay, SodaBottleOpenerWala presents yet another ode to the city with the first edition of ‘Bombay Old Fashioned’, a series of events curated to bring out the various elements that showcase the different charms of ‘Bombay’ over SodaBottleOpenerWala’s signature cocktails.

The first edition of this series was celebrated with a grand and glamorous evening at the exhibition venue, Palladium on 27th April, 2018. A successful auction was clubbed with the best from SodaBottleOpenerWala’s cocktail offering. The host for the evening and the lead curator of this edition of Bombay Old Fashioned, Anaida – Chef Partner at SodaBottleOpenerWala Powai, was pivotal in driving not only a successful auction, but also a pleasant evening for the guests. This extravagant evening witnessed the attendance of Bollywood hairstylist Hakim Aalim with his wife and model and commonwealth karate gold medalist Sandhya Shetty.

SodaBottleOpenerWala has teamed up with ace fashion photographer Palash Bose to capture different elements which are integral to Bombay and are fading away.  The Bombay Irani Café brand also partnered with comic artist Abhijeet Kini, who is showcasing sketches of different Bombay characters from his comic book Rhyme Fighters at the exhibition.

In the photos, dynamic personalities from different walks such as art, culture, fashion who typify Bombay, have lent their support and have been shot against iconic Bombay scenarios, including Rahul Bose, Uday Benegal, Hakim Alim, Diandra Soares and Hakim Alim. Pics will also include a range of sketches portraying your angry fisherwoman to your smiing Vada Pavwali to always-on-the-run Dabbawala. All the pieces will on display at the Atrium level of Palladium till 1st May and the sale proceeds will be donated to Light of Life Trust.

SodaBottleOpenerWala, we try to offer unique Bombay experiences. First edition of “Bombay Old Fashioned” is our way of presenting a slice of Bombay, which the upcoming generation may possibly not witness. As these elements disappear from the city, we feel it’s important to conserve and showcase the fading heritage of the city. We are celebrating those memories with these artful pictures and passing that on to these kids through the sale proceeds, who deserve it as much. Some of these kids have already gone far against all odds on their own and simply need a push” says Anaida Parvaneh – Chef Partner SodaBottleOpenerWala Powai, who has been instrumental in driving this event through the finish line.
