My Dear Community Members,
The BPP Elections are over, and Xerxes Dastur has been elected as the new Trustee to join the BPP Board. To say that I am not upset by the outcome would be a lie. However, I accept the community’s verdict. My defeat is not going to be a deterrent to continue serving my community, as I always have, and I will continue being there for my community members and working towards our community’s welfare.
So then, why the need for this message? Because I think it is very crucial for the community to see the truth and open their eyes to the FALSE PROPAGANDA that has been propagated by Dinshaw Mehta, not just all THROUGH the campaigning period, but he refuses to stop his malicious games even AFTER the elections!!! To set things in the right perspective so that my community members do not fall for Dinshaw Mehta’s false and distorted perception of numerous things including the Election Results, I am forced to share with you – THE TRUTH AS IS, as compared to THE TWISTED TRUTH that you have been subjected to.
Towards that end, I am publishing below, the exact break-up of the Donor and General votes cast in favour of Xerxes Dastur and myself, which shows Xerxes won by ONLY 26 MORE PERSONS than me.
A simple calculation of the numbers given shows that:
- The number of General Voters who voted for me is 2661 as compared to Xerxes at 2624 – I am grateful to my voters IN THE GENERAL VOTERS CATEGORY – the TRUE VOICE OF THE COMMUNITY
- On the whole, though Xerxes won by 89 votes, MAINLY BECAUSE OF DONOR VOTES, even so only ONLY 26 PERSONS, I repeat, only 26 more persons, favoured Xerxes as a Trustee. This calculation comes about because each Donor voter gets two votes. Hence the number of votes each candidate gets, does not equal the number of persons who voted for him/her. In short, only 26 more persons voted for Xerxes.
This is not to say that I do not concede defeat. Of course I do. I am putting out these facts so you know how Dinshaw Mehta fools you by distorting facts, to brainwash the community against my husband BPP Chairman Yazdi Desai and the present BPP Board, for his own personal and vile agenda.
Ever since the results have been declared, Dinshaw Mehta has repeatedly through Whatsapp messages and the Metro Junction, which is Dinshaw Mehta’s 8-page supplement in the Mumbai Samachar, called for my husband, Yazdi Desai’s resignation as Chairman and a change in BPP’s policies on the basis that this election was a vote of no-confidence against Yazdi and the present Board’s policies. How can a mere 26 more voters favouring his candidate, be portrayed as a vote of No Confidence against Yazdi Desai and the policies of the BPP and as a vote of confidence for Dinshaw Mehta / Xerxes Dastur? Especially when Xerxes’ very narrow margin of victory is won after False Promises and Misrepresentations To The Electorate, the wrongful personal attacks on me and Yazdi week after week in the Metro Junction, the intimidation and threats of stoppage of doles by Dinshaw Mehta to the less fortunate of our community, and the violation of the Code of Conduct by Xerxes Dastur and his campaign team (a Metro Junction supplement carrying inflammatory and misguiding stuff against me was published and distributed one day before Elections, even though candidates had voluntarily signed a Code of Conduct which specified that campaigning must end 48 hours before Elections). Add to this, the 3 spoilers brought in by Dinshaw Mehta – the same strategy he used the last time!
Even so, the results show that half the voters believed in me despite the lies repeated ad nauseum by Xerxes Dastur and Dinshaw Mehta! Members who voted for the other candidates based on Dinshaw Mehta’s lies unfortunately became the unwitting victims of his “election strategy” to malign, misinform, manipulate, and more! – an election strategy expected of a politician maybe, but not of a Parsi!
Even after the elections, the false personal attacks have not stopped. Whatsapp messages penned by unknown, non-existent persons, all spewing Dinshaw Mehta’s theories and distortions continue to be circulated. Dinshaw Mehta’s Metro Junction continues to carry false and distorted information about me, my husband Yazdi and the BPP. The real reason behind these attacks on Yazdi and me is the Criminal Case filed against Dinshaw Mehta for taking money from the BPP, which he is pressurizing us to withdraw. It is towards that end that the wrongful attacks in the Metro Junction continue, week after week. I therefore request all of you to sift fact from fiction when you read the Metro Junction.
I sincerely thank all of you who believed in me, voted for me and still continue to have faith in me. I especially want to thank community members who endorsed me and heartfelt gratitude to my Rustom Baug residents (Xerxes and I both live in Rustom Baug) who overwhelmingly voted for me. It showed that people who know both Xerxes and me, from closer proximity and therefore greater exposure to reality, had more confidence and faith in me – that certainly meant a lot to me.
I assure you all that I will continue to work for the wellbeing of my beloved community as I have been doing for the past 15 years, and I am sure that my good work and the truth will prevail over all else.
