A’bad Parsis Pay Tribute To Porus Karanjawala

Community members in Ahmedabad observed a condolence meeting to pay respect to Ex-President of Federation of Zorastrian Youth Association (FOZYA) and Ex-Trustee of Ahmedabad Parsi Punchayat (APP), Porus Jehangirji Karanjawala, at Sanatorium Hall on 25th August, 2018. Jointly organized by Mohudawala Trusts and Gamir Trust, the meet commenced with a jasan, followed by nineteen community members including APP Ex-Presdent, Kersi Shethna and Ex-Trustee, Dr. Armaity Davar, reminiscing Porus for his work and dedicated services rendered to the community in Ahmedabad.

A free, frank and fearless personality, Porus passed away on 16th August, 2018, at the age of 54, leaving the Parsi Community in Ahmedabad stunned by his sudden demise. His undeterred dedication to do better for the community, had him join various community welfare activities at the age of 24 years, and shouldered numerous responsibilities with various trusts, funds and educational institutes. In his extremely active social work tenure that spanned over 30 years, Porus held prestigious positions like the Ex-General Secretary of Parsi Youth League of Ahmedabad (PYLA), Ex-Committee member and Ex-Trustee of APP, Ex-President of FOZYA, Trustee of Roda and Savaksha Mohudawala Charitable Trust, Dhanjishaw and Manijeh Gamir Charitable Trust, and many more. As a Trustee of Manijeh Gamir Charitable Trust which was responsible in renovating the Ahmedabad Parsi Sanatorium, Porus personally supervised the renovation work and executed the inauguration of the newly renovated APP property, which today generates Rs.10 lacs as annual revenue. The community at large shall continue to revere his wisdom, thinking and selfless work attitude for giving great opportunities to Parsi humdins in Ahmedabad.
