Silent Protest Against Elevation Of Metro Line 2B

The Metro 2B Line, which is planned from Bandra to D. N Nagar and is proposed to be elevated, has come under protest from concerned citizens, who say that the Metro 2B should go underground, in the best interest of Mumbai city. An Underground Metro is expandable, inter-connectable, requires no acquisition of real estate, no cutting of trees, creates less noise pollution, and will definitely not add to the congestion of major roads like SV Road. All these benefits will be at an approximate 12% increased cost.

The Metro Authorities have allegedly violated various norms including Fire Safety and have also compromised the Airport height clearance. Citizens of Mumbai demand a future-proof Metro, one which will truly enhance the commute and make travel quicker, with seamless connectivity for future generations. Citizens have filed 3 PILs and will be staging a Silent Protest for the above reasons.

Hospitals, education institutes, religious institutes, housing complexes, retailers and others affected from the Juhu to Bandra stretch, have planned to participate in solidarity against the Metro, on Friday, 5th October, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Those who wish to participate in the Silent Protest can choose from amongst the venues: Homeopathic College (opp. Cooper Hospital); Mithibai and NMIMS College; Nanavati Hospital; Surya Hospital; Seasons (Santacruz); Sacred Heart School; Khar Masjid; Bandra Masjid and Bandra Tata Blocks.
