India B Wins Quadrangular Series: A comprehensive all-round show in the batting, bowling and fielding departments helped the Manish Pandey led ‘India B’ win the final of the Quadrangular Series by a massive nine wickets margin against ‘Australia A’ at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. India B proved to be the best side in the whole tournament and deserved to be crowned champions in every way. Batting first, Australia A were bowled out for 225 in 47.5 overs as D’Arcy Short top scored with 72, while wicketkeeper Alex Carey contributed 53. In the bowling department, Shreyas Gopal grabbed 3-50 in his 10 overs, while speedster Siddharth Kaul, Navdeep Saini and Deepak Hooda snapped up two wickets each. In reply, the batting unit of India B were spot on as Mayank Agarwal made 69 while Shubman Gill and ‘Man of the Match’ Manish Pandey remained unbeaten on scores of 66 and 73, respectively, as they finished with 230-1 in 36.3 overs. Pandey has led from the front in every game, with his individual scores being 95*, 21*, 117* and 73*.

Asian Games 2018

Indian sports personalities continue to rise and shine adding abundant medals to India’s tally. Arpinder Singh ended India’s 48 year wait and won the gold medal in Triple Jump, Swapna Barman became the first Indian to bag a gold in Heptathlon. On the other hand, Dutee Chand bagged a silver for the country in 200m. Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra won the bronze medal in mixed double TT. India also bagged a team silver, finishing behind Bahrain in the 4x400m mixed relay event. Jinson Johson also settled for a silver while Manjit Singh clinched a gold in the 800m event. Malaprabha Jadhav won a bronze medal in Kurash which made its debut at the Asian Games this year, while Pinky Balhara settled for a silver.

The Indian TT men’s team settled for a historic bronze as they lost out to South Korea. India also grabbed a silver in Men’s Compound Archery. On the other hand, the Indian Women’s Compound Archery team also won a silver medal. Shuttler Saina Nehwal won the bronze in the women’s singles badminton event while PV Sindhu yet again lost to Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying 13-21, 16-21 to bag a silver during the singles event. 20 year old Neeraj Chopra became the first ever India to win a gold medal in Javelin throw after recording a personal best of 88.06m in the final. Neena Varakil recorded her best attempt of 6.51 metres to get a silver in the women’s long jump event. Dharun Ayyasamy grabbed a silver in the men’s 400m hurdles. Veteran Indian long distance runner Sudha Singh won silver in the women’s 3000m steeplechase. Dutee Chand clinched silver in 100m to give India’s first medal in the event in 20 years.

Football

Premier League: On 25th August Manchester City drew 1-1 with Wolverhampton Wanderers. Arsenal beat West Ham United 3-1 as Monreal scored in the 30th minute, Diop smashed it in during the 70th minute while Welbeck scored the winner in (90+2). AFC Bournemouth were also involved in a draw with Everton 2-2. Liverpool won 1-0 V/s Brighton and Hove Albion as Salah struck for his side during the 23rd minute. The following day Watford won 2-1 V/s Crystal Palace and finally Chelsea grabbed a 2-1 victory playing V/s Newcastle United.
