England Wins Test Series: Man of the Match Moeen Ali’s good show with the ball ensured England a win by 60 runs during the fourth Test Match at Southampton against visitors, Team India, grabbing the series 3-1. India lost a winning match after they were set a target of 244 to win by England. Batting during their first innings, England notched up 246 in 76.4 overs. Indian bowlers did well to restrict them as Sam Billings top scored with 78. For the visitors, Jasprit Bumrah grabbed 3-46 in his 20 overs. In reply, India scored 273 in 84.5 overs, courtesy Chesteshwar Pujara’s brilliant 132 off 257 deliveries, smashing 16 boundaries. Moeen Ali picked a fifer (5-63) in 16 overs.

In their second innings, England managed 271 all out, in 96.1 overs. For India, Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers snapping four wickets. England were the better side as they walloped the entire India batting line up within no time. Though skipper Virat Kohli scored 58 and Ajinkya Rahane contributed 51, it was not enough. Off-spinner Moeen Ali yet again snared up 4-71, picking a total of nine wickets in the contest. India could not hold on to their solid position of being ahead in the contest and eventually collapsed.

Rafael Nadal In US Open Semis: Defending champion Rafael Nadal outclassed another opponent – defeating ninth seed Dominic Thiem in a thriller – grabbing the game 0-6, 6-4, 7-5, 6-7 (4/7), 7-6 (7/5) in a 4 hour 49 minutes clash, to reach the Semi-Finals.


FOOTBALL

Premier League

1st September: Liverpool win 2-1 against Leicester City, Brighton and Hove Albion draw at 2-2 with Fulham, Chelsea won 2-0 with AFC Bournemouth, Southampton defeated Crystal Palace 2-0 and Everton drew their encounter 1-1 playing against Huddersfield Town while finally Manchester City outplayed rivals Newcastle United 2-1. The next day saw Cardiff City defeated by Arsenal 2-3 at end of full time while Manchester United won 2-0 V/s Burnley and ultimately Watford emerged victorious, beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1.
