Maherzad Patel Strikes Gold, Silver And Bronze At WEPF!

Twenty-five-year-old Maherzad Patel recently participated in the World Equipped Powerlifting Federation (WEPF) held in Moscow, Russia, and made a mark for himself on 6th October, 2018 by winning the Gold medal for India.  Being the first Indian to participate in the competition, Maherzad won a Gold in Powerlifting, Silver in Deadlift and Bronze in Single Lift Bench Press categories.

Mumbai based Maherzad hails from Valsad and began his training in powerlifting and nutrition four years ago. He dedicates four hours daily to his training. In addition to practicing as a professional coach, Maherzad dedicates time to train his clients.

Speaking to Parsi Times, Maherzad said, “Powerlifting is a very demanding sport and although I have a very tight schedule, I ensure to balance the demands of the sport quite well. It demands energy, money, patience and time. I also make sure I eat every three hours.” Having faced numerous health complications in his childhood, Maherzad is very passionate about staying fit. A two times national Silver Medallist, Maherzad adds, “When I started this journey just for sake of keeping general fitness, I realised that I am greatly blessed with genetics, and lifting weights gave me a sense of empowerment. You have to believe in yourself and give your 100 per cent to your dreams!”
