NPC Celebrates 73rd Anniversary

The Nowroze Baug Play Centre (NPC) celebrated its 73rd Anniversary on 3rd November, 2018, with a thanksgiving jasan at the M J Wadia Fire Temple, followed by celebrations at the Nowroze Baug Grounds. The evening commenced with Cultural Secretary, Naznin Govadia welcoming the gathering, and introducing the Chief Guest for the evening, Head of Boarding Section at Bai Avabai Framji Petit Girls High School, Yasmin Charna.  President Homi Ustad addressed the gathering, followed by children of Nowroze Baug presenting a dance performance choreographed by Farzana Patel and Zambi Bacha. Chief Guest Yasmin Charna eloquently addressed the gathering and urged parents to encourage their children to adopt the career of their choice and capacity.

The highlight of the evening was the ‘All Parsis Prize Distribution’ ceremony that witnessed ninety students having secured ninety percent and above in ICSE and SSC Board examinations of March 2018, being felicitated with the ‘Late Khody P. Kolah (Founder) Merit Scholarships’. Vinney Godiwalla of Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School was felicitated for securing 97.40% in the ICSE examination, while Ruby Kermani of Bai M N Gamadia Girls High School was awarded for securing 95.60% in the SSC examination. BPP Trustees Viraf D. Mehta and Xerxes Dastur distributed scholarships to deserving school and college students. A special prize in memory of ‘Late Ratansha and Shirinbai Sahuraja’, donated by their son, Prof. Rohinton Sahuraja, for securing the highest percentage in Final Year B.Com examination, was awarded to Parinaz Guard of HR College for securing 78.93%. The Rotating Trophy in memory of ‘Bahadur Sohrabji Bulsara’ by Shirin and Vispi Bulsara, for members of Nowroze Baug was awarded to Kayzin Billimoria of Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School, for securing 92.40%.

 

 

All dancers were awarded special gift hampers. A ‘Special Appreciation Prize’ was given to Taurus Engineer for training the boys in football on gratis. The event concluded with the Parsi and National Anthem, followed by dinner catered by Tanaz Godiwalla.
