 India Beats Pakistan, Clinch 2 Points

The most awaited clash, between India and Pakistan, had rain playing spoil sport, but eventually India clinched victory by 89 runs due to the DLS method, thanks to a power packed performance from Man of the Match, Rohit Sharma (140) laced with 14 fours and three sixes. Batting first, India notched up a colossal 336-5 in their 50 overs. Apart from Rohit, KL Rahul scored 57 while skipper Virat Kohli contributed a handy 77. For Pakistan, Mohammad Amir picked (3-47) in 10 overs. In reply, Pakistan succumbed to the pressure, making 212-6 in 40 overs. Vijay Shankar, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav snapped two wickets each.

England’s Eoin Morgan Smashes ODI World Record With 17 Sixes

Afghanistan bowlers were brutally punished as English captain and Man of the Match, Eoin Morgan thumped 17 sixes and four boundaries en route his 71 ball 148 to retain a commanding position during World Cup 2019 in Old Trafford, Manchester, England. With this stupendous knock, Eoin Morgan set a new world record for the most sixes smashed in an ODI. His tally of 17 maximums surpassed the previous record of 16, jointly held by Rohit Sharma, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle. England scored 397-6 in 50 overs. Jonny Bairstow scored 90 while Joe Root made 88. Afghanistan ended with 247-8.

 

New Zealand Overpowers South Africa

Man of the Match, Kane Williamson’s magnificent unbeaten 106 coupled with Colin de Grandhomme’s 60 helped New Zealand win by four wickets against South Africa. South Africa managed 241-6 in 49 overs as Lockie Ferguson snapped up 3-59. The Kiwis cruised to victory with 245-6 in 48.3 overs.

                                 Women’s World Cup Results

15th June saw Netherlands beat Cameroon 3-1; Canada defeated opponents New Zealand 2-0. The following day Sweden thrashed Thailand 5-1; USA won 3-0 V/s Chile. 17th June saw South Korea go down 1-2 against Norway; France clinched a 1-0 win V/s Nigeria. In Group B, Germany beat South Africa 4-0. Next day, Brazil managed a 1-0 win against Italy; Australia dominated Jamaica – 4-1. On 19th June, England grabbed a 2-0 win V/s Japan while Scotland and Argentina locked scores at 3-3.

 Roger Federer In Quarter-Finals of Halle Open

Swiss tennis star Roger Federer beat opponent Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in a tight match in round 16 of Halle Open winning 7-6, 4-6, 7-5. He advances to the Quarter Finals and is set to grab his 10th title Halle victory!
