India In Semi-Finals After Defeating Bangladesh: A scintillating knock of (104) from Man of the Match, Rohit Sharma, coupled with Jasprit Bumrah’s (4-55) helped India beat Bangladesh by 28 runs at Birmingham, England and grab their semi-final spot in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup. Batting first, India scored 314-9 in 50 overs. Openers KL Rahul (77) and Rohit stitched a 180 runs partnership; Rishabh Pant made 48 while MS Dhoni contributed 35. For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman snapped up 5-59 in 10 overs. In reply, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan top scored with 66 while Mohammad Saifuddin remained unbeaten on 51 off 38 balls. Along with Bumrah, Hardik Pandya snared (3-60) in 10 overs while Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami and Yuzvendra Chahal took a wicket each.

England Qualify For Semis: Man of the Match Jonny Bairstow’s 106 put England in command and ensured them a victory by a mammoth 119 runs against New Zealand, sealing the third semi-final spot in the World Cup. Batting first, England notched up 305-8 in 50 overs courtesy Bairstow’s century, Jason Roy’s 60 and Eoin Morgan’s 42. Kiwi bowlers – Trent Boult, Matt Henry and James Neesham picked two wickets each. In reply, the Kiwi’s were bowled out for 186 in 45 overs. Wicketkeeper Tom Latham top scored with 57. For the hosts, Mark Wood was the pick of the bowlers scalping (3-34) in nine overs. Three teams: Australia, India and England are already into the semi’s while in all probability it will be New Zealand who will grab the final spot.

USA Wins First Semi-Final of the Women’s World Cup: England’s dreams of reaching their first Women’s World Cup final came crashing down as Steph Houghton’s late penalty strike was saved in a dramatic contest as USA stunned them with a 2-1 victory. Tournament favourites USA are through to yet another final and now have a chance for a record fourth title win. Winger Christen Press and striker Alex Morgan both struck headers for their team to put USA on the front foot.

Brazil, Peru In Copa America Finale: During the first semi-final, Brazil overpowered Argentina 2-0 as forwards Gabriel Jesus and Roberto Firmino struck at crucial junctures against Argentina. During the second semi-final game, Peru thrashed Chile 3-0 and ended their hopes of winning a third consecutive title. Flores, Yotun and Guerrero pelted goals for Peru.

Roger Federer Dominates At Wimbledon: Swiss tennis star Roger Federer progressed to the third round at the Wimbledon, beating Jay Clarke 6-1, 7-6 (3), 6-2 in one hour and 36 minutes.
