Shubman Gill In Maiden Test: BCCI recently announced youngster Shubman Gill a spot in India’s 15-man squad for the three match Test Series against South Africa. The first Test of the Gandhi-Mandela Trophy will be played in Visakhapatnam from 2nd October, 2019. KL Rahul will take a miss, while Rohit Sharma has been confirmed as opener. Skipper Virat Kohli and Vice caption Ajinkya Rahane continue on with team – Mayank Agarwal, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant, Wriddhiman Saha, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma and Shubman Gill.

Ashes: Australia Win 4th Test V/s England: An outstanding show from Australia during the 4th Test helped them win 185 runs. In the first innings, the Aussies declared at 497-8 in 126 overs. Steven Smith smashed 211 including 24 boundaries and two sixes. In reply, England were bowled out for 301 in 107, overs courtesy Rory Burns 81 and Joe Root’s 71. Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers snaring four wickets while Starc and Cummins picked three each. During the second innings, Australia declared again at 186-6 in 42.5 overs as Smith top scored with 82. This time Jofra Archer grabbed 3-45 for the hosts. During the last innings England succumbed to the pressure and finished off with 197 on the board. Pat Cummins picked (4-43). Steven Smith was ‘Man of the Match’. With this win, Paine becomes the first Aussie captain to bring the Ashes home from England shores since Steve Waugh in 2001.

GS Sandhu Helps India Draw With Qatar: Gurpreet Singh Sandhu stood firm in front of the goal post making 11 saves in the game which took away the win from Asian Champions, Qatar. Qatar attacked through the contest, taking 27 shots at goals but India held on, ending the 90 minute game in a 0-0 draw, thanks to Gurpreet’s heroics. India need to win the next two games V/s Bangladesh and Afghanistan, to qualify.

Ronaldo Scores Four For Portugal: Star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, making his 160th international appearance, scored four goals for Portugal, winning 5-1 against Lithuania during the Euro 2020 qualifiers. He has now scored 93 international goals and also his eighth international hat-trick. He scored off a penalty followed by some great shots.

Mehuli Ghosh Grabs Double Titles: Young shooting sensation, Mehuli Ghosh, won both – the Senior and Junior Women’s 10m Air Rifle Crowns at the National Shooting Trials at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range. She finished with a score of 252 in the Senior group and 252.2 in the junior women’s event.

On 9th September, UP Yoddha won 33-26 against Gujarat Fortunegiants; Patna Pirates defeated Tamil Thalaivas 51-25. Next day, U Mumba overpowered Telugu Titans 41-27; on 11th September, U Mumba were beaten by Bengal Warriors 26-29. 12th September saw Patna Pirates beat 36-33 v/s Jaipur Pink Panthers.
