India Whitewash Windies With 2-0 Test Victory: India’s great performance across three departments of the game, ensured a massive 2-0 victory in the Test matches V/s West Indies, winning the series in style and the last Test by a margin of 257 runs. During the second Test Match, batting in their first innings, India notched up 416 in 140.1 overs, with Hanuma Vihari’s 111, Mayank Agarwal’s 55 and skipper Virat Kohli’s 76, with lanky pacer Ishant Sharma getting 57 off 80. For the Windies, Holder snapped up (5-77), R Cornwall picked three wickets. In reply, West Indies perished for a paltry 117 in 47.1 overs. Jasprit Bumrah picked (6-27) in just 12.1 overs which included a hat-trick. During their second innings, India declared at 168-4 in 54.4 overs where Ajinkya Rahane and Hanuma Vihari remained unbeaten on 64 and 53 respectively. Kemar Roach grabbed a three wicket haul. During the fourth innings, the hosts collapsed for 210 in 59.5 overs. Vihari was declared Man of the Match.
PV Sindhu Wins Gold – Makes Indian Histor: Star Indian shuttler and Olympic silver medallist, PV Sindhu, became the first Indian to win a badminton World Championships gold as she beat Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in a one sided contest. Sindhu dominated her opponent and won 21-7, 21-7 during the all important summit clash which lasted 38 minutes. With this victory, she wins her fifth World Championships medal which happens to be the joint most for a women singles player along with former Olympics and world champion, Zhang Ning from China.
