BPP To Fine Unauthorised Parking In Doongerwadi

An increasing number of residents and commuters in the Kemps Corner-Malabar Hill area have resorted to parking their vehicles inside the Doongerwadi, in keeping with the lack of parking space and the heavy fines imposed for wrongful parking in Mumbai. This has led to BPP, which manages the Doongerwadi, charging a fine of Rs. 500 and clamping of vehicles parked illegally inside the premises.

A notice stating – ‘Unauthorised and illegally parked vehicles will be clamped attracting Rs. 500 as fine even for a day (a part of a day/night)’ – has been put up on the path leading to Doongerwadi’s prayer hall, emphasizing that parking space is strictly for the use of those attending funeral ceremonies, obsequies and staff residents only.
