Mino Ashishwang Beresad

Daisy P. Navdar is a teacher by profession and a firm believer in the efficacy of our Manthravani. She is focused on ensuring that the deep significance of our prayers is realized by our youth. She credits her learnings and insights, shared in her articles, to all Zoroastrian priests and scholars whose efforts have contributed towards providing light and wisdom for all Zarthostis.

Mino Ashishwang Banu is the beloved daughter of Pak Dadar Ahura Mazda. In terms of religious analogy, with regard to Hindu philosophy, she may be likened to Ma Laxmi, the royal consort of Lord Vishnu. However, the role that is played by Mino Ashishwang Banu is not just as the Goddess of Wealth. It is stipulated that when praying to Mino Ashishwang, we must not ask for wealth but that we must merely state our needs. Mino Ashishwang will then grant us the boon for only as much as we deserve in the order of her wisdom.

In the Ashishwang Yasht, she is called upon as such, “We worship Ashi, the good, who is shining, high, tall-formed, welfare giving, healing and powerful.”  Mino Ashishwang bestows divine grace upon those who call upon her. She fills their coffers with gold and blesses them with her bounty.  There is a short prayer which is derived from the Ashishwang Yasht which I share with you today, as under:

“Baname Yazade Bakshayande Bakshayazgare Meherbaan Ashaom Ahura Mazda Ya Mino arshashang berasad,
Ya dudhadharem ahuremazdao khangrem ameshanam spentanam ya merezyu manao anku payesa manao fra gaoshavar,
Sisip mana chathru karna minucha zaranyo payesa utamam upang hacha hi vouru saredha amavaiti apama ma apa daidhya fra ma mu aivi-urva aesyang gravuha marzdikem ashish berezaiti hu dhata ahi hu chithra vastha ahi kshayamna tanuye kherenange daite ashi stree re da ni dhaite ma avi asmanem rashusa ma avi zam ni ru vise ithame tum ham charangooha antare aredhem namane stree ra he kshathro keretahe ya jasame avanghahe ashis vanguhi ya berezaiti yazamaide.”

Dear readers, these short prayers that I routinely share with you must always be done in the right spirit, with the right mind in dominance. Even though the prayers are short, they are in no way a short-cut. We cannot attain peace, wealth, prosperity or good health by taking any short cuts. We need to put in due effort and then ask for divine blessings. We shall further discuss Divine blessings in subsequent articles.

Dear Parsi-Times,
The. Recent post by M/S Daisy Navdar on Mino Ashishwangh Banu was very helpful. May I request her to send me a picture of Mino Ashishwang Banu is she has it.
I also received a WhatsUp post from some friend showing our Lord Zarthushtras family tree. I did not see Ashishwang Banu listed as one of his daughters. Please clarify if you have the answer.
Many Thanks.
Adil
