Alexandra School Celebrates ‘Musical’ Annual Day

The Alexandra Girls’ English Institution commemorated its annual day on 16th December, 2019, at the St. Mary’s School Auditorium, amidst great fanfare. Attended by eminent educationists and Trustees of the school, the celebrations commenced with Principal Farrah Gustaspi, reiterating with great pride the achievements of the school’s students at various cultural, guiding and literary events, organized at the intra and inter-school level. The ceremony received great applause also at the acknowledgement of Principal Farrah Gustaspi’s completion of her M.Phil (Masters of Philosophy) in Education.

The highlight of the event was the musical extravaganza – ‘Once Upon A Time’ – a collaboration of Disney fairytales and English classics, portraying the life journey of Mufasa’s (The Lion King) six children – Mowgli (The Jungle Book), Aladdin, Simba (The Lion King), Maria (The Sound of Music) and Eliza (My Fair Lady), in their quest to be heir to the throne. Written and Directed by Silly Point Productions and choreographed by Lillian Mendes, the play had over six hundred students across all standards of the school staging their talents through drama, speech, dance and choir performances. The collective effort of the school and students showed great detail put into costumes, onstage performances and flawless production.

Speaking to Parsi Times, Principal, Farrah Gustaspi said, “I’m thrilled at the quality of the show that my children have displayed. From primary to matriculate students, we ensured every child’s potential was stitched together to create this exceptional piece. I thank my teachers, staff and parents for contributing to the success of the grand event.” The event concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem.
