National Award For UK-Based Dr. Khushroo Suraliwala

UK-based Orthopaedic Surgeon – Dr. Khushroo Homi Suraliwala (MBBS MS M.Ch Orth FRCS), was felicitated with a prestigious national award and named the ‘Best Musculoskeletal Trauma Principal Investigator’, at the National Institute for Health Research Network Awards. Dr. Suraliwala was presented the award at a ceremony in Newcastle, England.

The research was part of a multi-centre project with the potential to alter national clinical guidelines. Prof. Matthew Costa, national specialty lead for Trauma and Emergency care, described the surgeon’s work as “outstanding” in what was “a very strong field of applicants.” Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Suraliwala said that Anna Morris, Musculo-Skeletal Research practitioner, and her research team, gave invaluable input to the Orthopaedic department in the study.

Dr. Suraliwala settled in the United Kingdom in 1986 and specialised in Orthopaedics at Liverpool and at Wrightington, with specialist training in knee surgery including torn cartilage, knee arthritis and knee replacement surgery. Based in Merseyside, and with extensive experience in treating all aspects of Orthopaedic work, Dr. Suraliwala has established and runs a successful knee clinic. His areas of particular expertise include Arthroscopy, Knee replacement, Meniscal surgery including meniscal repair. He also shares his expertise at Fairfield Independent Hospital.
