Godrej Baug – The Saga Of The Fallen Trees

‘Messiah’ or ‘Team Work’

Troubled times show the true qualities in an Individual. Do we rise to the challenge and show unselfish resolve in extending a helping hand or drown ourselves in ‘tom-tomming’ what we do, to ease some one’s problems?

We keep reading day in and day out that present times are not good. The COVID-19 pandemic has robbed us of our normal way to live. And to top it, cyclonic storms caused further damage and pain. When a mishap causes damage, it is essential that we do not take advantage of the situation or step forward in a pretentious manner to help out for our own selfish / political gains.

We, the Managing Committee of Godrej Baug Residents Welfare Association (GBRWA) always work as a team and support each other. We do not crave for publicity nor do we have to tom-tom our achievements. We prefer to keep a low profile and silently do our work. A quiet word of appreciation from our members and residents, gives us the fuel to work harder. The whisper of a ‘thank you’ sounds like music to our ears.

Let it not be forgotten, that the core of the present Managing Committee of GBRWA has been fairly and squarely elected 6 times in a row, with a thumping majority. The members and residents certainly recognise the real workers.

We have no pretentions of being politicians and fighting elections and therefore do not need to seek publicity.

This was not the first instance of trees falling in Godrej Baug and certainly not the last – it is a regular feature; even roads have been cleared every time without unnecessary hoopla. Each time it is the Security Personnel, Gardeners, and of course, our YOUTH, who have time and again come forward and selflessly done the job together with us. And we have, as a responsible Association, shown gratitude and thanked each one for their sincere efforts every time.

We believe in keeping a positive atmosphere and do not wish to foster negativity in our Baug. Our team GBRWA believes and continuously works in the spirit of the following words and without any ulterior motives:

“If efforts to do social work are couched in selfish motives, then they will die a premature death. Why would my efforts get politicised? I have values I inherited from my father. He helped many. Anyone, even a postman knocking on our door would get a glass of water and some sweets.”

Would you like to guess who said these words??? It was ‘Sachin Tendulkar’-  a true Team Player.

We respectfully rest our case with all humility.
