XYZ’s Rustom’s Rockstars Hold Social Service Drive

XYZ Foundation’s Bandra/Mahim group – Rustom’s Rockstars (RR), held a Social Service Drive titled, ‘Let’s Be Someone’s Umbrella’, distributing umbrellas to underprivileged children in semi-urban and rural Mumbai.

RR sourced the umbrellas from the NGO – ‘Access Life’, which supports pederastic cancer patients, and also donated Rs. 15,000/-. Umbrellas were supplied to children living in the backward/tribal areas of Mumbra and Bhiwandi through another NGO – ‘Setu Charitable Trust’, which operates Balwadis, Sewing Classes and Coaching Classes, comprising around 390 children + 19 staff.

The RR volunteers interacted with over 145 children at Mumbra’s Balwadi, all under 6 years, and gifted them a Stationary Goody Bag. The children were thrilled and showcased their knowledge, performing for the RR volunteers. The volunteers next visited the Sewing Class, comprising 25 to 30 girls, who showcased their handiwork and spoke of the ongoing activities. Umbrellas were later distributed.

Stationary goodie bags were also gifted to 85 children of Bhiwandi’s Balwadi, while teachers and staff were presented umbrellas. The experience proved to be an eye-opener as regards the running of an NGO in a rural area. While Rustom’s Rockstar donated and distributed the much-needed items worth Rs. 71,000/-, they express that these NGOs need continued support from us all to help the underprivileged children.
