Powerlifting power-couple – Hanoze and Friya Malesra, brought in much pride and joy to community by winning a Gold medal each in the Deadlifts Championship organised by the Amateur Powerlifting Association Suburban Mumbai, affiliated with the Maharashtra State Powerlifting Association, which was held on 3rd April, 2022.
The strong couple won consecutive Gold medals again, after 2019 and a two-year wait due to the pandemic. Participating in the Under-66 kgs weight category, Hanoze struck his winning lift of 230 kgs deadlift, while Friya aced the 130 kgs mark in the Women’s Under-52 kgs weight category.
The icing on the cake was Hanoze also winning the ‘Best Lifter’ amongst all weight categories, in the Men Seniors, for lifting 3.65 times his body weight!
Amongst the numerous and State and National level participants, it was wonderful to have two Parsi community members shine out with first positions across both categories – men and women.
Hanoze is a professional fitness trainer and nutritionist, while Friya is an international French teacher who pursues the powerlifting sport out of sheer passion – and both are needless to add, fitness experts! Congratulations to the lovely power-couple and here’s wishing them many more golden wins!
