Parsi Actor Jehangir Karkaria Performs At Rashtrapati Bhavan

Celebrating India’s ongoing 75th year of Independence, on 16th July, 2022, a Hindi play, titled, ‘Rashtrapati Bhavan’, starring Parsi actor – Jehangir Karkaria, was performed at the auditorium of the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre, in New Delhi. This play was thoroughly enjoyed and applauded by the august audience comprising recently retired President, Ram Nath Kovind and his wife, along with Vice President – M. Venkaiah Naidu; Governors and other senior government officers. Jehangir Karkaria, who has acted in a number of films, ad-films serials, web series and Parsi/Gujarati plays, performed the role of ex-President – V V Giri, in ‘Rashtrapati Bhavan’.

Written by Abhiram, directed by Kumar Sohni and starring acclaimed actor – Manoj Joshi, who is also the Producer and Creative Director of the play, ‘Rashtrapati Bhavan’ shares the story of this iconic building, which was once the symbol of British Colonial rule in India. For 75 years since India gained Independence, the profound transformations witnessed by the ‘Rashtrapati Bhavan’ (developed by Sir Edwin Lutyens), under 14 different Indian Presidents, has been presented in an engaging and insightful manner.

“It’s been memorable and prestigious for all of us – over forty actors and crew members from Mumbai, who presented the play in front of India’s topmost dignitaries. It was an honour to be invited and accommodated at the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s eminent Peacock Guest house. To perform the role of our former President – Shri V V Giri – in this play, has been a very proud and honourable moment for me as a Parsi Actor,” shared Jehangir Karkaria. Though a qualified chemical engineer, Jehangir Karkaria’s calling as an actor, over time, has had him perform in over 25 plays, 30 films, 25 TV serials, 100 ad films and 5 web series.
