At the board meeting of Surat Parsi Panchayat (SPP) trustees, on 18^th October 2022, Dr. Homi Darabshah Doodhwala was unanimously elected as President of SPP, for three years, following the resignation of Jamshed Dotiwala, citing personal reasons.

Highly qualified with degrees including of MS (General Surgery), DHA and MT (Delhi) and FICS (Chicago), Dr. Doodhwala served the Surat Municipal Corporation for thirty-eight years before retiring and was the Medical Superintendent and Director (Medical Education and Research), Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery, at SMIMER Medical College and Maskati Hospital of the SMC. He was also the advisor for Public Health Department of the SMC for a period of 2 years from 2017-2018.

He first became a Trustee of SPP in 1982 and over the years his assistance to the Parsi Community has been remarkable, which include his contributions through the COVID period as also in the matter of Dokhmanishini, where he led the fight on behalf of the community for respectful last rituals of Parsis.
