Chenoy Agiary, Hyderabad, Celebrates 17 Years Of Weekly Humbandagi

On 20th February, 2023, the Humbandagi group of Bai Maneckbai N. Chenoy Agiary, in Hyderabad, completed 17 years of conducting weekly Humbandagi, at the Agiary premises, every Monday evening, at 7:00 pm. The Humbandagi was led by Head Priest – Er. Mehernosh Bharucha, followed by a short religious talk.

On the occasion of completing 17 years, the group arranged for a function, where post the usual Humbandagi prayers, Er. Dinshaw Surti, who will be relinquishing service at the Agiary on 31st March this year, expressed his appreciation for seventeen years of uninterrupted conduct of Humbandagi and hoped that more people would join the group. Er. Mehernosh Bharucha spoke of the initial hurdles faced in keeping the Humbandagi going for this long.

Hyderabad resident, Cyrus Tarapore penned a poem on the occasion, which was much appreciated by all, where he appreciated the efforts of those taking the effort for seventeen years to keep the tradition going stronger than ever, and ended on the lovely note:

“Where faiths are many,
And our journey is one;
All reaching the same destination,
Why Fight over religion,
When God is one!”

Fram Desai then conducted fun games on the theme: Parsipanu, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all. In his vote of thanks, Fram Desai thanked Er. Mehernosh Bharucha for conducting the Humbandagi and the religious talks, as also Farida and Kerfegar Antia for keeping things going smoothly, in the absence of Er. Bharucha. The evening ended with snacks and the rendition of the Parsi Anthem, ‘Chaiye Hame Zarathushti’.
