Ushta-Te Foundation Celebrates Silver Anniversary

Ahmedabad based Ushta-Te Foundation celebrated its memorable silver anniversary with much pomp, on 4th November, 2023, attended by a number of A’bad-based community members. Dr. Shernaz Cama, Founder and President of PAZOR, presided as the Chief Guest for the function.

Much gratitude was expressed to the foresight of Founder Trustee Emeritus – Meher Medora, whose magnanimity has provided great benefits to community members for the last two decades. Managing Trustees – Shirin Kanga, Minnie Patel, Pearl Sabavalla, Dr. Delnaz Jokhi, Khunum Avari, Binaifer Dastur and team have ensured the smooth running of the institution, taking it to greater heights.

Dr. Cama recently received the prestigious Dr. Sarojni Naidu’s Nightingale of India award, last month. In her address, she congratulated Ushta-te foundation for its exemplary work over the past 25 years contributing to the development of the society. Dr. Cama reminisced her childhood days in Mirzapur, talking about inter-cultural harmony in Ahmedabad. She paid tributes to legends including Sir Nawroji Vakil, Dadabhai Navroji, Jhangir Vakil, Bachubai Vakil, Meher Contractor and Meher Medora, inspiring and motivating the youth.

Other dignitaries included Brig. (Retd) Jehangir Anklesaria – President of the A’bad Parsi Panchayat, and Persis Khambatta, wife of the late Industrialist – Padma Shri Areez Khambatta. Students and deserving candidates were felicitated for their achievements in various academic and other achievements. An Audio-visual presentation showcased Ushta-Te’s activities over the years. The sprightly young tots of the Zarathusti Awareness Group of Ahmedabad (ZAGA), dazzled all with their dancing skills. This was followed by a show. ‘The Generation Walk’, which included parents expressing themselves via dance with their children to popular old Hindi songs.

The grand celebration concluded with a vote of thanks and the renditions of the National and Parsi anthems, and a scrumptious Parsi feast.
