Pervin Taleyarkhan Elected Chair Of Michigan’s IP Law Section

Pervin Rusi Taleyarkhan, Legal Counsel at Whirlpool Corporation in Michigan, USA, has been elected Chair of the State Bar of Michigan’s Intellectual Property (IP) Law Section! As Chair, Pervin will lead the IP Council in facilitating the SBM IPLS’s goals of providing education and information on federal and state patent, trademark, and copyright law issues through seminars, publications, and networking events, which are attended by IP practitioners worldwide.

“The traditional ‘passing of the gavel’ marks the start of my term as Chair of the State Bar of Michigan’s Intellectual Property Law Section!” shared Pervin, expressing gratitude to her predecessor and sharing her excitement to work with colleague council members. “Looking forward to an amazing year ahead… Will continue seeking guidance from our past Chairs,” she added.

Pervin was honoured in June 2022 with the ‘2022 ACC Top 10 30-Something’ Award by the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), the world’s largest organization of corporate and in-house attorneys, which recognizes the top twelve in-house legal counsels from around the world in the 30 – 39 age group, who demonstrate stellar innovation, novel approaches to challenges, and pro bono and volunteer work. Pervin was also recognized and honoured in 2021, as one of the distinguished ‘Crain’s 2021 Notable Women in Law’ by Crain’s Detroit Business/Crain Communications – one of the largest privately held business media publishers in the world.

Born in Pennsylvania (USA) to parents – Professor Rusi Taleyarkhan (teaching Nuclear Engineering at Purdue University) and Navaz Taleyarkhan, both native Parsis from Mumbai based in Indiana, Pervin earned her degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University and her Juris Doctorate / Law degree from Indiana University. She moved to Michigan as an in-house Legal Counsel with Whirlpool Corporation, where her constant advocacy and quest for growth opportunities earned her high-level recognitions. She has been an active volunteer in the Zoroastrian community, having served as co-Director of ‘Society of Scholars of Zoroastrianism’, Board Member of WZCC (Chicago) and of Zoroastrian Association of Chicago, and Trustee of the Zarathushti Entrepreneurship Development Foundation (ZEDF).
