Dear Readers,
It’s Easter weekend – a time that celebrates rebirth and hope. Feels like the perfect opportunity for our community to pause, reflect and maybe… rise again (like those delicious hot-cross-buns everyone’s suddenly posting about).
Think about it – Zoroastrianism gave the world the concept of free will, personal accountability and the eternal battle of light versus darkness, not to forget the joy of a well-timed, sarcastic comment. We have brought a lot more to the table than just dhansak (though that alone is a legacy worth protecting!).
We’ve walked the talk for the most part – living out our ideals of ‘Good thoughts, Good Words and Good Deeds’, not just as prayer, but across all walks of life. Be it business, philosophy, industry, philanthropy, art, science, or just a good-natured debate over which caterer makes the best saas-ni-macchi, we have always shone brighter than our numbers suggest. From Tatas to Godrej, from legal luminaries to culinary queens – our impact far outweighs our headcount.
Despite our dwindling numbers, our spirit remains unshaken. Across the world, young Zoroastrians are getting increasingly involved – reviving practices and bridging generations, they are getting impactful… they’re even getting married (occasionally to Parsis, we hear!). The fire hasn’t gone out, it just needs a little fanning. It’s time to quit being passive torchbearers and become spark-starters instead!
Easter Sunday serves as a powerful reminder of resurrection and revival. So, let’s rise with joy, reconnect with pride, and remember that hope has no expiry date – just like that bottle of mamaiji’s home-made gajar-mewa-nu-achaar, hibernating in the recesses of your fridge!
Have a lovely Easter and a joyful weekend!
